Posted on 28. Jul, 2010 by Douglas Richardson in About Douglas
This is my fifteen year old daughter Lauren doing her first competitive Barrel Race at 4H Horse Fair, in Redmond, Oregon! That is me yelling in the background? You know how us Dads are!

Hi Douglas,
… a proud Dad in action… you certainly are enthusiastic… that’s great for Lauren.
I echo Tim’s sentiments with a shout out and a big… “CONGRATS Lauren!”
Man… I’d be lucky if I stayed upright on the horse…. never mind the barrel racing! …whoa , Nellie!

Hi ya Douglas,
I had a 10 year old girl teach me how to ride when I was 25. At age 26 I did my first barrel race at a jackpot rodeo. My horse could sense my apprehension and that made him run faster. He was an arena sour- race horse. I just could not figure out how to gain control over that horse. A year later I broke up with my unfaithful boyfriend who bought him for me to keep me from leaving him. Realized I was never supposed to have control over that horse. That horse taught me I was just supposed to get control over my life! Thanks for the post! Best, Lisa
